Government Shutdown May Impact SNAP Benefits
SNAP FUNDS
- October SNAP benefits have already been issued and are not affected by the shutdown.
- SNAP benefits will not be issued for November unless the federal government successfully ends the shutdown.
- SNAP funds already in accounts are available. They roll over into following months and remain until the client spends them.
- Clients can still apply, recertify, or make changes to their cases. It is important, as always, that case information is complete and up-to-date so that when SNAP funds are restored all eligible clients receive benefits as soon as possible.
- Notification: The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services or Clermont County Job & Family Services will notify clients when there is a status change in SNAP funding.
CLERMONT COUNTY SNAP CLIENTS
- Approximately 15,000 recipients may be affected by the potential loss of SNAP benefits:
-
- 7,185 households
- 8,748 Adults
- 6.214 Children
- The average monthly issuance is approximately $2.7 million.
